For the earliest Art Deco skyscraper in Boston, Harold Field Kellogg experimented with color theory, selecting thirty shades of brick to modulate from dark to light as the eye moves up and across the facade. Built before the 1928 zoning law change that allowed for buildings higher than 155 feet in central Boston, the Batterymarch Building rises from a two-story base into three five-bay towers connected by three-bay setbacks. The windows are recessed behind continuous brick piers that celebrate, with the graduated color, the verticality of the building. In 1999, the building was converted to a luxury hotel. We created this Glorious mural as part of that rennovation.

Ceiling design is one of my favorite parts of a room design. Wood ceilings always reign supreme in a rooms impact and delight the occupants in a timeless way. Every ceiling is unique and always an inspiration of the Architect and the clients collection of art and antiquities. This Sarasota ceiling was complicated and richly details for a very sophisticated eye for historical details inspired by the famed Ringling house in the same city.
